How it works
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring biomaterial that has been proven safe and effective in both humans and dogs for a variety of indications, including dentistry. Periodontal applications of HA have shown statistically significant efficacy in 5+ canine studies and 100+ human studies. Additionally, HA may prevent progression to more severe periodontal disease and reduce required tooth extraction
How it sticks
HA is extremely hydrophilic, absorbing 1000x its weight in water. When contacted with fluids such as water or blood, it increases in viscosity. And on a microscopic level, it binds to specific cell surface receptors, enhancing extracellular stability.
